How do I create my Plans?
To create plans find “Plan” in the top left hand corner of the screen, then select “New Plan”. If you are using Rugby SessionPlanner a window appears in front of the pitch, this asks what dimensions you would like the grid to be. Make your selections and you are ready to go.
Now select ”P“ and drop a couple of players onto the pitch. Then right click the mouse in open space and select “De-Select”. Now select “Run”. Place the crosshairs over one of the players, left click and hold down the left hand side of the mouse and drag out a line of running.
Do the same for some of the other players. Now click the ball symbol. Drop the ball onto one of the players. Next select “Pass” and place the crosshairs to one side of the line of running of the player carrying the ball. Then drag a pass across the line of running of a colleague. You do not need to be too accurate; you can extend the "pass" to just past the line of running of the colleague. Let go of the left hand side of the mouse. You have now created a run for the players and a pass between 2 of them. Click “Action!” to see your plan play through. It’s that easy!
The "Pass" and Kick" features work in the same way.
Your plan is now saved in your database. You can though:
Amend the plan
Clone the plan
Email the plan
Save the plan\s to floppy disk and CD
Using Rugby GamePlanner you can drag on “Scrums” and Lineouts” as well as individual players. Also, the ball is already on the pitch so you can start passing movements straight away.

How do I see my plans in animation?
At the top and slightly to the left of center is the “Action!” button. Click here to see your plan in animated form. When you click “Action!” the button turns to “GO”. Click “GO” and the button turns to “STOP”. You can click “STOP” at any time to freeze the Action! When the plan is over the button will turn to “GO”. Click again to replay the Action!
In Rugby GamePlanner you will have to click the “First Frame in the Action!” tab which is slightly further to the right.
|
How do I control the replay speeds?
You can replay your plan at a variety of speeds from ”Very fast” to “Frame/Frame” from the “Adjust the speed of the Action!” setting on the main GamePlanner screen. However, faster PCs run at faster speeds and so you can control these setting further by going to;
Configure
System Settings
Action Replay Speeds
If you find the replay speed of your plans is too fast, change the setting to a higher number. For instance, the default setting for “Very Slow” is “5” if you changed this to “20” very slow will play back at a much slower speed on your PC. The numbers must be in sequence though with “Very Fast” being the lowest figure.

When you have created your plan or want to save your plan for the first time whilst creating it, select “Plan” then “Save Plan As”. You will be able to name the plan and in Rugby SessionPlanner save the plan to a folder or sub-folder of your choice.

How do I add Video Clips to my plans?
If you have a video clip of a plan or intend to create a plan from a video clip you can very easily add it to a plan in a couple of ways:
By clicking the “Notes” symbol (little yellow page at the top of the screen)
By Saving the plan
Use the “Browse” button to find the video clip you're after. Highlight the clip and select “Open”. The clip is now attached to the plan. The “Video” sign is displayed in the plan notes when you are looking for plans and at the bottom right of the screen when running the plan. When running the plan click the “Video” sign and the clip will pop up.
Please note that because of the size of video clips they will NOT be exported when you send plans. If you want somebody else to see the video clip you must send it separately. The receiver of the clip can then insert them as you have done. Video clips can be added at any point not just at the time of plan creation.

What does Exporting Plans mean?
Exporting plans means to send some or all your plans to another place on your computer or/and to another computer. For instance, you might want to export some of your plans to a floppy disk or email some of your plans to a colleague or student. It is worthwhile pointing out that you only send a copy, you still keep the original in your database.
We have made exporting plans very easy and intuitive. Click “Plan” then “Export Plans” and a screen opens. Select the plans you want to export then click “Export”. If you would like to send an email with the plans already attached check the appropriate box. This will open up your email section where you can then send an email in the normal way and with the plans already attached. A note is also attached to the email explaining to the recipient how to save the plans.
|
What does “Importing Plans” mean?
Importing plans means saving plans sent (exported) by someone else or from another place on your PC. We have created an “Import Screen” to make this as simple and as logical as possible.
For example in Rugby SessionPlanner when somebody emails you some plans or you download plans from our website, save them to “C:\program files\GPRS\import files”. Then when you turn on Rugby SessionPlanner you are informed that you have plans to import. If you answer “Yes” you are taken to a new screen that guides you through the process.
The process is slightly different in Rugby GamePlanner. You would save the plans to “C:\GPRU” then when you open Rugby GamePlanner you select “Plan” then Import Plan/s” then you “Browse” for the plans.

How does the Calendar Rugby SessionPlanner work?
The Calendar in Rugby SessionPlanner enables you to create, store, print and email training\coaching sessions.
You select the date, time and location of your next training\coaching session then add in the notes and the plans you want to use. Click “Save” and you have a session that you can use time and time again. The session can be amended at any time, for example, you might want to add in some “Post Session” notes.
Version 2.75 enables you to email Sessions and to search for sessions. This means you can send and receive sessions created by someone else. You could then amend the session to suit your team.

Search Tags are labels that you can link to a plan. You can link the same tag to many plans and link many tags to the same plan. Here is an example of how they work.
Say you create 3 Search Tags - "Forward Drill", "Backs Drill" and "Requires 8 players". If you then create 4 plans - "Plan A" to "Plan D" – and in the Plan Details screen for each of the plans you create the following Search Tag links:
Plan A – "Forward Drill" and "Requires 8 Players"
Plan B – "Forward Drill"
Plan C – "Back Drill" and "Requires 8 Players"
Plan D – "Back Drill"
In the Search Screen you will now get different plans shown when you select the following tags:
"Forward Drill" = Plan A and Plan B
"Requires 8 players" = Plan A and Plan C
"Back Drill" and "Requires 8 players" = Plan C
You can create as many Search Tags as you like – there is no limit in the database. You can also link as many tags to a plan as you like. This gives you the flexibility to organise and catalogue your plans and drills in whatever manner you choose.
